Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is the latest education policy in Indonesia that offers flexibility in learning, differentiation, and strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile. This research aims to examine teachers‘ and principals’ perceptions of Merdeka Curriculum implementation and identify their expectations and challenges. The main problem in this study is the inconsistency between conceptual understanding and implementation in the field, which creates uncertainty in educational practice. This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach with a closed questionnaire instrument, involving 23 respondents from among teachers and principals. The results showed that most respondents understood the concept of the Merdeka Curriculum, but its implementation still faced various obstacles, such as the lack of further training, limited time to prepare teaching tools, and lack of access to technology. The conclusion of this study is that the Merdeka Curriculum is a great hope for educational transformation, but it needs strong policy and technical support so as not to create new uncertainties. A more structured implementation strategy and continuous assistance for educators in the field are needed.
